Kia Rio Timing Belt

Let us discuss about Kia Rio timing belt in this post. This post covers the steps to change the timing belt on Kia Rio. Let us start off with the removal of the old belt first.

Removal for engines of 1.6 liter

The first thing that needs to be done is to disconnect the negative battery cable. Later power steering bolts and nuts should be loosened and tension should be removed from power steering. Next step is to remove air conditioning drive belt.

Later, the generator mounting bolts should be loosened and the bolt should be adjusted. Now, the generator bolts can be easily removed.

Final Few Steps

Having taken care of the generator bolts, next you need to get rid of the water pump pulley, and then the crankshaft pulley should be removed. Next, lower and upper timing belt covers have to be removed.

The crankshaft needs to be removed so that the mark of the Kia Rio timing belt can be suitably aligned with the timing mark that is present on the engine.

Now, the ‘I’ mark has to be checked that is present on the intake crankshaft pulley; it needs to be aligned with the mark that is present on the seal plate. Similarly, the ‘E’ mark present on the exhaust camshaft pulley needs to be adjusted with a mark that is present on the seal plate.

And, that’s it; you’re done with the Kia Rio timing belt realignment procedure.
